First time using LED's

Post by mekanic13 »

Here are a couple of signs I just finished using LED's. One is powered with a 9 volt battery and the other with a transformer.

They look good.

Did you break the current with a switch on the battery powered one or do you have to just unplug the battery?

On the battery powered one I put a push button switch on the side of the sign. The 9 volt battery is mounted inside the sign.

Thanks.
The amp draw for the small sign is 15mA per led and I'm using 8 so that's 120mA. Really don't know how long the 9 volt will last, kinda went by the seat of my pants with that one. The large sign is drawing 300 mA for the green portion and 120 mA for the white portion for a total of 420 mA.

Looks great! I'm looking at using phosphorus lights on a project that will be both solar and battery powered. There are some nice options available for lighting. Thanks for posting the pics.

Thanks Dave,
I'm not familiar with phosphorus, how do they compare with LED's? The solar part sounds interesting.
