Looking really good!
Will you have a large dia wheel on the motor side for grinding as well?
Great project well done.

After having a 2x72 belt sander for years I don't understand how I ever ran a fab shop without one. I even use it to sharpen pencils anymore.

I'm thinking about building a grinder for grinding blades.
What motor and speed control are you using? Voltage? 1or 3 phase? Rpm?
Just doing homework right now.

This is looking awesome, I haven't got the machining capabilities, so I ordered my parts and will be cutting the frame and figuring that out shortly. Decided to use some step blocks instead however.

Question, I ordered both the keyed 5/8" shaft and 4" drive wheel with a 5/8" hole that is keyed, and they measure out to be just that, should I press them, or slightly sand the shaft down for a not as tight fit?

For those that are not familiar, this style grinder is considered a knife maker's grinder.

Sarge's grinder is an excellent example of the dozens of configurations out there.

If you check out BladeForums.com or KnifeDogs.com you will find tons of info on this type of grinder.

Use key words - KMG Grinder or 2X72 Grinder.

You could spends a week reading all the info out there about this type of grinder.

Myself I chose to by a already built grinder so I wouldn't spend to much time on a grinder.

I bought Beaumont KMG 2 HP Variable Speed.

I would not press them. They will require replacement . . . Mine slip on and are keyed.
