Large Windspinner

Post by Oldsarge »

Seems like it's been slow on the forum, so I thought I'd post a work in progress; yet another windspinner! This one is made from an old gable fan blade that came out of a chicken warehouse, measures about 30" diameter. The tractor on the tail is 14" long for size comparison. The blade mount, tail and tractor are cut from 3/16. This will be mounted on an 8' tall version of an old farm windmill tower. The 2x4s will be painted gray to simulate old weathered wood. Hoping to have it wrapped up tomorrow.... The local John Deere dealer is dying to see it (and hopefully purchase it too!) The video shows the blade spinning from a small floor fan I have running on slow speed.... It doesn't take a lot to get this turning, and on high speed it really gets moving!

Enjoy!

Thanks! Here's the finished product, just have a little more stain to put on it... Spins like a banshee! You tower is just at 7' tall not counting the spinner...

And a little video walk around... http://youtu.be/9a3s1omYdPc
