A new Christmas tree design

Post by Oldsarge »

I found a picture of this on the Interwebs and thought it was really cool, so off to Corel I went thinking it would be a breeze! WRONG! Don't know why, but this one kicked my butt! Anyway, this is made from 20g aluminum.... I cut the first one from 16g and it was a real bugger to get the top few tiers fully expanded. The aluminum expands nicely, and I suppose 20g mild steel would be easy enough as well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I'm gonna hit you in the head and then scoop up some of what comes out of there and take it home with me. Now how do I convert this mess to usable ideas ;) :o  :?
Did you clamp the base down and then lift it straight up thru the top Mike?

If you hit me in the head, it's most likely going to make a big hollow sound, and you'll go home empty handed!

The aluminum bends really easy by hand, just pull it up and shape it a little... I hope these move pretty well, you can mail your friends a Christmas tree in an envelope! I have another Christmas project in the works that involves fire!

Hey Oldsarge, Nice idea, I just cut one on a laser at work (educational learning ) :>) . I used .025 SS I see what you meant by a bugger to expand top couple of tiers. So I tapered in the webbing, and reduced the width between lines for the top couple tiers. Will try again to see if it helps .
Great idea, Thanks rtsplace/Ray
