Nice love the detail and the way you did the hinged grill.

Very nice looking! I wonder how the nickle plating holds up to a wood fire?

Thanks to all the positive comments!

Nickle hold up very well to heat. Use alot in the oil field for that purpose. U cna put a torch on it and will have trouble cutting it. The cost to nickle plate it is $1800. YES, not a misprint, $1,800. lol. Not cheap but it will never rust.

Why in the world you would have something nickle plated.....when you could have just used stainless steel? Could have done it out of stainless for at least 1/2 the cost if not 1/4

I would have to agree. I cut a lot of stainless steel. It cuts beautiful, tig welds perfect and won't rust. Although the fire pit looks great if you can afford it.

Why?? Because too some ppl price doesn't matter like my brother n law. Its original, idk another person who has one like it, much less nickle plated, and it will last forever. And to see it in person is undescribable, its absolutely amazing. He has seen many pits I've made out of stainless also, not what he wanted.

How do you cut your flat expanded metal to for the top? Just curious.

Lay expanded metal over top and cut with cutting wheel.

So does mine, but the grill was made piece by piece so its faster just laying exp metal over it and cutting it with wheel. I cut all the other exp metal with table.

I have a Hypertherm PW85 & I just use the hand torch for expanded metal.

You can switch it out in seconds . . .
