Selling on Consignment

Post by wickedinhere »

I have tried it in the past and sold some stuff but in the end i didn't make much profit after paying booth rent plus 20% of your sales plus material and labor. Yesterday I had a shop contact me about putting some of my items in her store i told her i didn't do that anymore because the store owner usually makes all the money. She got upset and told me she had a guy already in there and he's doing 1000.00 per month and can't keep up. I had to laugh i told her after he pays your fees and buys material and hauls the stuff up there he probably making a small profit. I also told her that i do very well with internet orders and don't have to leave my shop. I think he see's small profit's and is getting out of dodge and shes mad about losing the income.

Ha ha, that's a good one. That's just under $250 per week or if he's only working 5 days a week (but it should be 6 or 7 because he "can't keep up" LOL) that's $50 per day of work.

I say go for it but only expect $10 a day until you build up sales and you can't keep up too

LOL I am a one man show and i can bang out 1000.00 per week just playing around. Its funny how they try to make it sound like your missing out when you tell them no. Did i mention the store is over 80 miles from me there goes all the profit.LOL

Ive actually been talking with a local store about some consignment. If we do the deal it is simple. He gets 10% off the sale. I will be coming and checking to replace and put price tags on my items. But he is only 3 miles from my house so might not be a bad gig. And he is good with me hot gluing my cards to the back of the items and having a decorative card holder. Thinking advertisement might make it worth it for me.
