Anyone interested in a recurring job with FBI?

Post by bigcreek »

I have been in discussions with a fella in the FBI Birmingham division who has had metal cutouts made in the past but is looking for a new supplier. Basically whenever an agent retires he gets this round approximately 22" diameter metal sign with sort of the FBI logo in the middle and the agents name around the perimeter. The only thing that changes from piece to piece is the name. It would pay $165 shipped because they don't want to pay more than that. I was originally going to do it but they want it colored the gun metal chemical color and I am not a chemical guy. I haven't spent much time messing with chemical coloring and cant get the color they need. I know there are a lot of people on here who could do it piece of cake. I already drew up the file of the sign which I would be happy to share free of charge if someone was interested in taking it up. I told him I could do a copper color and he was going to have me do it but it wasn't what they really want and I don't want to give them something that doesn't make them completely happy so here I am. He is a great guy and I think he said it would at least be a dozen or more ordered every year. If you are interested let me know and ill give you his info.

Well for some reason it isn't attaching the picture of the previous sign they had made but it isn't far off from a regular cold rolled steel color.

$140 with different lettering on each, a chemically colored finish, and shipping? No thanks. Packaging and shipping alone will probably be more than $40

$165 shipped so around $120 for the piece plus $40 S&H. Wonder why he quit his other supplier? Was the coloring something that could be powder coated?
I'm sure someone will do it.

The original cutter got real big (got advertisement on a home improvement show) and tripled the price or something like that. I found some people who want to take it on. Thanks.

no its not blued its kind of an off silvery color. I have some chemical (cant recall the name brand) but they have one called gun metal. I think it is the same one this other gentleman was using.
