I have a Hypertherm 1250 G3 and I would say it is flawless. Works well. It can cut 1/2" all day and hardly ever start the cooling fan.
Good supplier of consumables is close by, and the LWS carries them as well.

I have been using a Powermax 1000 on my Dynatorch table for a year now with no problems . I like the CNC
ready arc voltage and control interfaces built into it. I have had a Powermax 380 for years that I use to cut up
my leftover steel skeletons on the table after cutting. I feel you cannot go wrong with Hypertherm equipment.
Their website also has a wealth of information and videos. They recommend straight lead ins on circle cuts,
rather than the circular lead ins. I tried it and I must admit, I get real clean cuts on inside circle cuts now.

Something that might help plasma users...

Hypertherm has a new Web site designed to help people understand the differences between Plasma and Oxyfuel cutting so they can decide which cutting method is right for them.

The site -- http://www.plasmavsoxyfuel.com -- contains a series of educational articles that cover the seven key things people need to consider when choosing a cutting method: cut quality, productivity, cost per part, overall profitability, ease of use, flexibility, and safety.

There are also several videos on the site, one which contains a side by side comparison of the two technologies. People wanting more information can also click the many links to external resources that provide even more information on Plasma and Oxyfuel.

You can find more at the company's Web site http://www.hypertherm.com or Hypertherm's YouTube page at http://www.youtube.com/user/HyperthermInc.

Hypertherm powermax 600 fine cut consumables

Postby Metal Lee » Mon Mar 29, 2010 9:49 am

Hey guys and gals, any feedback on the fine cut consumables? are they worth it? how long do they last, any thing to watch for etc? I thinking of trying them and I thought I would consult my fellow professionals for some input.
Thanks, Metal Lee

Oh ya. If you do any artistic or detailed cutting on thinner materials and have never tried them then you are in for a treat. They last just as long as standard consumables if used properly and they will get you much nicer cuts, less cleanup, just better all around. I would recommend picking some up and giving them a try.

I have a Hyperthern 1250 and use the 40 fine cut set up when ever I can. 10 gauge is the max on 40 amp. Great cut. Real clean when you get the voltage and speed right. I increase arc current by 5 volts and lower speed by 25%. This is a good starting point. I just cut a number of parts this morning using 77 volts and 50 ipm. Very little clean up needed.

Last week I cut a bunch of floor drain covers out of 12 gauge stainless. Got over 550 pierces out of 1set of fine cut consumables.

The HyPerformance400XD is a great machine. Fast cut speeds and longer consumable life makes it the best Plasma Cutter I've used. axisplasma carries many Hypertherm torches and manufactures tables as well.
