Measuring Cut Distance

Post by celtic 64 »

I have recently discovered how to track my cut distance and pierce points on a design using the history option under the machine drop down window. However I can record the data only after I cut the design. Is there a way to figure out the cut distance without actually cutting the part or design? This will help me a lot in pricing out jobs.
Thanks,
Willie

What version of plasmacam software are you using? 3.11, DesignEdge????? The more info you can provide the better response you will get. If you are using DesignEdge highlight the part you are wanting to measure and click on the measure tool on your toolbar. If you are using the tool icons it will look like a short ruler. If you use the drop down menu it will be under the view tab. Once you click on measure you will get a pop up window with the info you need. This is the measurement info from a small part I made.

11 closed paths are selected.
Length = 36.295 inch
Area = 8.640 square inch
Volume = 1.1621 cubic inch
Center of mass: (4.698, 4.251)

The closed paths are the number of pierce points (if you have open paths in the drawing it will tell you how many of those you have also. Just add them together for number of pierces). Length is the cut length.

Hope this helps.
