Here's the picture. Just export it as a .JPG or .BMP and upload that image along with the DFX. You would upload two images total.

Re: my best seller welcome sign
I'm still very new at this, having only created one of my own original pieces.
I like this one a lot, but when I opened it, it was a lot of separate pieces (the image was the same, but it wasn't continuous).
I spent 30 mins joining all the lines and then simplifying them. I also changed the font (personal preference).
Can an 'expert' take a quick peek at this and tell me if its OK. In my possibly naive thought process, I thought this one would be easier to cut. The file size dropped by 1/6, which, as long as the image looks comparable, is good, right?

Re: my best seller welcome sign
The original welcome image had lots of segments and showed 4586 objects.
By using the "join curves" tool in Corel X5 set at 1.0mm this automatically reduced the same image to 60 objects.
The "O" has duplicate lines and is not bridged properly, fixing this reduces it to 51 objects.
So with what you have done you have 56 objects so yes the file size will be considerably smaller.
Yours is 56 objects as oposed to 51 because you still have an extra segment(object) in the dogs mouth,1 extra in the cats nose, 1 where the two ears meet and 2 extra in the cats right eye.
I'd say fix those few and it will be perfect, hope that helps.

Re: my best seller welcome sign
Thanks Murray,
So, are you saying the original image benefits from being reduce to the 51 objects, or would this make little difference to the cut (other than file size). I guess I'm asking why it had all those extra objects in the first place.
Also, I dont have Corel (I design on a Mac and X5 is not available for Mac). Did Corel join all those curves in a single click? It took me a long time to select all the elements in Illustrator and join them. If its automatic in Corel I may need to buy a copy to use on my Windows PC.
I'm not sure how to remove those extra objects to pointed out, as it breaks the path. I need to explore Illustrator more to figure out how to join the broken paths back together, I think.
Thanks for taking a look at this.
Still learning the basics here...

I was always under the impression that a smaller file is better.pony wrote:Thanks Murray,

Some systems will handle lots of segments better than others. When there are a lot of segments quite often it wants to cut it that way and is continually piercing and cutting each bit, by joining them it becomes a long smooth cut resulting in a better job and less wear.
Yes, that is basically a one click operation (4 really) in Corel X5 and X6, took all of a few seconds to do, just select the drawing, select join curves, set the parameters (I use 1.0mm) and applypony wrote: Also, I dont have Corel (I design on a Mac and X5 is not available for Mac). In Corel it joined those ones too so I just compared the two end results to see where the extra segments were. Not sure will Illustrator but assume you would join as you did the otherspony wrote:I'm not sure how to remove those extra objects to pointed out, as it breaks the path. Me too and I wouldn't be where I'm at without the help I have had from here so thanks again to everyone who has helped.pony wrote:Still learning the basics here...

Re: my best seller welcome sign
I've not sold any of this style yet. I cut a couple of similar ones (welcome signs, but personalized with their surname instead of 'welcome') at 20 inches wide. I just started to sell items. I initially asked $49, both buyers said it was too low and that they thought they were worth closer to $99
So, I asked, and got, $79 a piece +tax. I finished them with a rattle can of matt BBQ grill paint. I plan to ask the same for these too.
Don't undersell yourself! You can always drop the price, it is harder to increase it later, especially if the new buyer is a referral from a past sale
