Saw this one in person guys and the picture does not do it justice. Simply stunning work with a truly great finish job. the shell being domed adds a lot to the piece.

beautifulI have been trying to figure out how to paint a translucent finish. I have looked for translucent paints but have found none so I am guessing it is in the possesses. the grinder can add some depth and different dynamics to a piece and its a shame to paint over them when they can shine through and give the color shape kind of like a fish scale. DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY TIPS OR DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS? I HAVE MANY PEICES WAITING FOR COLOR.

First thanks for the File, second. If I were going to mimic your patina, I would probably use a torch on the shell. Then I would spray some Kandy Paint. Maybe a gold then go over with some Kandy red. If I get a chance to cut one out this weekend, I'll post my version. Thanks again! ;)
