Pirate Skull

Post by tomloewen »

Hey you guys, please let me know if there are any issues with this file . . . I got a lot of help from Murray but still got growing pains :?
Thanks
Tom

I made a little revision to the original file. I joined up the long cutout that runs parallel with the rim of his hat in a couple places just to give the piece more straight.

Looks good Tom. All joined, good nodes just one little bit, the nose is floating and will drop out, just needs to be connected to the main part.

Hi Tom,

I brought it into Coreldraw and all looked good. However when I brought it into Sheetcam as an SVG, one of the cut paths were funny. I come across this periodically where it looks perfect in Coreldraw but I get issues in Sheetcam.

Anyway, in Coreldraw made some changes to the offending bit, re-exported and brought into Sheetcam again and all cut paths generated good.

Here's my Coreldraw file and the SVG file IF you need them. Correction - the SVG won't upload, this forum software is funny like that, only likes certain file types. Have you got Coreldraw ?

Keith.

Hi Keith, yep, I got a demo of CorelDraw that I just started using. I was using Draftsight but the other guys like Larry, Jason and Murray noted some major problems with my files . . . turns out DraftSight does not do well with CNC; it's main purpose I think, is to draw and print. So Murray got me going in a straighter line with CorelDraw, (no pun intended) :D

And actually I'm not a cutter, I'm just some guy who likes drawing this stuff up; I really enjoy it. But I don't really feel my files have served their purpose until they're put to use. (and yes . . . this is another hint!) If you other guys cut this stuff out, please post a photo. I've been married for 35 years and seldom get laid, this is the only excitement I have . . . post them!

Thanks Sean, actually this one wasn't too bad, the other one I posted, (Highwaymen Cash Nelson) was a bit of a challenge, off hand I think it took six hours

Tom:
You've been very generous and hinting(begging) for someone to cut out your art. Check out the post in the other forum of this Pirate skull cut out.
