I've got a few friends that are passionate about various sports teams. Experimenting with some of the logo's, I've been using a LAYERED effect (ie: white back plate and then stacking the various colors on top to complete the logo's) gluing the parts together with high strength glue.
Here's a vintage Detroit Red Wings logo all ready to go; simple and easy to cut. The back plate is white and the one other piece colored red... glue them together and there you go.
