Bench Template

This is a bench template my students and I created. It can be used in a variety of ways as seen in the pictures. The LSU one was designed by a student and entered in the State Fair. The La Tech one is for the university to auction off for scholarships.

Its all made out of 3/16" 4x4 sheet. The back brace is made out of whatever thickness 1" angle iron we have in stock cut around 15-20" depending on the back design. You will also need 2 small L shapes of some sort to weld to the angle iron once you have set the back angle. There are also 4 pieces of 1" square tubing cut 38.5" for the seat frame.

We sell them for $200 bare metal or $350 powdercoated. Since we are a school, I am teaching students design and metal working skills so we don't sell as high as retailers so I don't know what fair market value would be.

Thanks for posting. I am a metal shop teacher in International Falls MN and we do a lot of projects with our plasma cutter. This will be a great project to show the kids.

The finished Bulldog Bench. It's currently on display at the Louisiana Tech Sales Room at South Campus . It will be auctioned off at the annual scholarship auction with proceeds going to a scholarship fund in honor of Dr. Green.

Looks good. What thickness did you use for your second back piece? I've cut some 14 gauge before and painted it the. Used some epoxy to attach it.
