Looks like the new XP series that is 'said' to cut and also mark your material. I wonder if this will do away with air scribing.

I have been hearing that from others. This XP will replace the current 45. Sounds like they are making more power and capability

Love to see a torch/consumable design similar to the 65 and up. Anything they drop will most likely be gold anyways.

Jim, I was hoping you would chime in on this post. Unfortunately your reply was exactly what I expected, lol. Guess we will all have to wait.

I see the latest web site video is just as much a tease as the first video

https://www.hypertherm.com/landing-pages/shaping-xp/

I am sure what ever it is going to be it will be awesome with a price to match :(
lets hope it has loads of improvements for CNC cutting

my wish list for a new PM45 would be:

still single phase / CE availability
improved torch and consumable options for cutting thinner materials at sensible cutting speeds
same interface as the PM65 controls and connections
thicker material cutting capacity
improved duty cycle

just a wish list :D
Best Regards to all

All I know by looking at the handle that it's a smaller unit. Most likely not a 65 or more.

Would be hard to give up my 65, I rarely cut more than 1/4" but the day I get rid of it....

The advertisement says portable so maybe this is the one with the integrated air compressor.

Everything in the lineup is a newer design except for the 45. Seems pretty obvious to me what it is. It's just the specs that are left to argue about. lol

It's a powermax 45 with built in compressor.
Hopefully it's dual voltage too

yeah... well I guess it's exciting, but I really doubt a built-in compressor on a 45 will be useful in the CNC world. I just cut a 1/3 sheet of various stuff and not even my 80gal compressor could keep up without the motor overheating.

Is it a "Laser" Jim

Now that would be a really nice addition "a portable Laser" capable of cutting upto 12mm - 1/2 steel "interfaced to a DIY CNC table IF ONLY 8-)

only a thought

Laser would be nice however the fumes are definitely toxic. Proper ventilation is absolutely a necessity and something that a lot of folks forget or dont mind much at all. Years ago (2005) there was a guy who had a CNC plasma in his garage (2 car) and he had zero ventilation. He spent 2 weeks in serious condition at a hospital as they were working on ways to pull the sludge out of his lungs. He was a smoker so that made him twice as a susceptible to lung damage.

Hi BTAPlasma

OK as you have said "Laser would be nice however the fumes are definitely toxic"

Lets change that to a PM45 "XP" thats a waterjet option with the same capacity as a PM65 I am sure that would be a nice option

I guess we will just have to wait and see "Available 26.9.16 in North America and 10.10.16 in the rest of the world" its like waiting for Christmas when you were a child :o

Mine works really well! Lets see......the on/off switch is on the front panel (not the back). I don't need to recycle the on/off switch when I change or inspect consumables. It has been in production for about a month.....so there should be adequate inventory for the demand (usually with new products the demand exceeds the supply...and customers must then wait). It does more than cut.... Tomorrow is the 26th here in New Hampshire....we will know more then! Jim
