Looks like a very nice build LakeCruiser. I planed on building one last winter but started using patinas and paints and don't know if I really want to build it now. Most of my pieces are artsy type stuff, if I were doing more industrial type things I would want one built as nice as yours. Keep us updated. Love to see good craftsmanship.

Thanks Rick. it may be a bit overkill but I would rather have it and not use it than to need it and not have it.

Looks good. I am about 80% finished with my 4 x 5 x 8 oven. I like the inserts for the elements. I made mine full depth and like you said, I am building insulation boxes for them now. Good luck with yours.

CONTROL PANEL2.jpg
This is my control box. I am using an SSR on each element to spread out the current draw. I plan on placing each SSR close to the element in it's own junction box and sending a signal wire to each one from the control box. The control box will only have 110VAC in it.

Look great did you use hi-temp insulated wire between the SSR and the elements??
I assume your timer is set to start when the oven reaches cure temps.

Yes I will be using short lengths of High Temp wire from the Element to the SSR's.
I use my timer differently. It starts counting on power up and completes the SSR
circuit. When flow-out occurs, I reset it for the cure time (usually 20 mins.).When
0 is reached it opens the SSR control Circuit.

Well I got a couple of free hours and I managed to get the lights and the temp probe mounted.
The lights are recessed using the 6" Duct Cap method. I routed a template out of luan on the CNC and cut the holes.
Lights.jpg
I made a small pan for the temp probe to be recessed also.

question is the temp probe recessed so it checks reflected heat not thermal convection heat? I see you have a circulating fan so the heat is distributed evenly.

The probe is recessed to be out of the way. My theory is that with the recirculation fan the temperature should be the same just about anywhere in the oven, especially between the inlet and outlet of the fan.

I put my probe on my door, its mounted halfway up of the height of the door. Its always out of the way and my cart wont catch on it when I pull it in and out

That is a good idea too. I think that I am gonna mount my controller on the door. Only 120VAC will be at the controller box and the SSR signal wires will be leaving it. I worked on the duct work for the circulating fan last night. I am coming up with better way thru trial and error, but I think that I am gonna be pleased with it.

Oven Duct.jpg
I got the duct fabed up this weekend. I got to seal it and rivet it in but I am pleased how it turned out. The duct goes down to 1 1/2 inches thick so insulating it will be easier.

This is my return air grill. I broke the rule of recessing everything with this but I wanted to be able to tune it.
I ran out of screws before I finished.

Do you have any information on the control box? did you buy it complete ? I will be making OVEN in the fall and this was my concern. Any info ie...parts name and suppliers would help.

I built the controller box. I purchased the box at our local electrical supplier. The temp controller and timer is from Amazon. The indicator lights are 110vac led pilot lamps and the switches are also rated for 110VAC. They were purchased from Amazon. I will try to compIle a list soon. I also want to draw up the wiring diagram.

I am also in the market for building my own control box. I would also appreciate your wiring diagram. Thanks for this build thread, it will make building mine much simpler. I have been to the powdercoating oven build online, but like to see others ideas as well.

Ok but give me a few days. I have got a full plate right now. It will be a hand drawn schematic.

Here is a PDF of the schematic. I assume NO liability for this drawing. Electricity CAN KILL YOU.
Ok now that the drama is out of the way, The circuit has not been tested yet. The 4 indicators are 120VAC
LED Indicators. The HEAT Indicator is wired to measure 120VAC between the Output of the SSR to Neutral.
I may get voltage thru the element and that may keep the indicator on. I will just have to wire it and see.
The HEAT switch will go in series with the SSR Control line as well as the timer relay. If one wanted individual
element control, each SSR Control voltage could be put on a separate switch then you could choose which elements to
use. I plan on using magnetic door locks that will release the door when the timer times out. The timer will also
kill the power to the SSRs and thus the heat as well.

Will try to get part numbers as well as pinouts for the Timer and Temp Controller later.

Thanks for the positive comments.

OK there has been a change in the SSR wiring. I decided to run a + and - to each SSR.
This will give me individual element control if need be. To start with I am going to
tie them all together at the controller box and later may add 4 more switches (one for
each SSR).
