These are handheld toys kids are playing with. They have small skateboard bearings in them. They hold in hand and spin.

Re: Fidget Spinners??
These seem popular, I don't get it, but....
They seem to use 22 mm bearings, but I would use whatever size you can find cheap, resize the holes to match the bearing outside diameter and epoxy the bearings in place. Use material thickness to match bearing thickness.

Re: Fidget Spinners??
My son brought one of those home last week. I played with it a while, too. Didn't know they were called "fidget spinners". The designs above look neat...thanks! I think these would be better suited to a 3d printer, though, vs plasma. My son's plastic one can spin mighty fast...I hate to think what it could do to a digit, if it's made of 3/16" material...

Re: Fidget Spinners??
These "fidget spinners" are a phenomenon sorta like the hackey-sacks when I was a kid. The basic idea is that there are a bunch of people who have OCD/ADD tendencies and this "fidgeting" helps calm a portion of their brain to enable better concentration on the task at hand. What has grown from it is an ever increasing amount of precision and speed through the use of ceramic space-age bearings and highly precise milling of rare metals. I actually met a couple of guys that produced a fidget that costs $700 each, and they are pre-sold out already of over 200 of them, so obviously there's a market. I agree that plasma-cut metal will not unfortunately be part of this craze. 3D printing, which I also do, will, but even that has limitations. It's the people with milling machines that will ultimately reap the most profit.

Check out Laserbits.com and Inventables.com
I don't have my laser here yet but i have both of those bookmarked as they have been recommended on several forums.

Re: Fidget Spinners??
Post some picks once you get the bearings I would like to see how they turned out. I assume you have to drill out the bearing holes so they are more precise?

Nice to see people post pics. I always wonder if people only download the files that people take the time to create.

Re: Fidget Spinners??
I'm having problems with bearing. I first drill a 22mm then we t to 55/64. 22mm to big 55/64 to tight. What are you guys doing. I'm using 3/16 metal. Might have to use a different material. Thanks guys.

Re: Fidget Spinners??
Heat the bodies, freeze the bearings? If it's only a few thou seems like they should slide in. Much more than that might make the bearings bind.
