Another Wright CNC problem

Post by All Sierra Metal »

I was told you guys are the ultimate problem solvers for CNC problems and was hoping someone has the magic to bring it to life .

So here we go:
I picked up a partially new Wright CNC 4x8 table that a friend of mine got totally frustrated with due to the lack of support/ run around from the owner Chris. Im having trouble with gantry movement/ freak out only when the torch is enabled (f-5 or G-code call out). When torch is off the gantry jogs just fine on all axis . I have reloaded all the programs and checked the connections . Im suspecting that the controller has a problem but im guessing at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Right on. I was only asking to be sure you were not using a plasma source with hi-freq start.

The 115v outlets used for your computer and your controller, are they wired correctly with a functional ground? A 115v plug in circuit tested is an easy way to confirm this. Be sure all your outlets are grounded first.

From what you are saying the torch trigger may be hooked up wrong. Are you using Mach 3 or other software to control the table??
If it is sitting with nothing going on and you click on F5 it should only fire the torch if the plasma is on or nothing if its off.

Hey Jester I think his problem is not with firing the torch but rather when the torch does fire the gantry freaks out like electrical interference is getting to the motors

You could be right, but Hypertherm should not cause that.
