The most new guy post of the year

Post by KNPV-PSD »

I just inherited a PM85 and cannot figure out the air quick connect size and style....all my stuff is automotive QC and they do not work. Checked the online manual and parts list and no help there...

Anyone know?

Change the fitting to the size you use.
Machines come without air fittings (at least all of mine did)

Good call thanks.

The manual call out using a 3/8” hose for supply. Is there any restriction issue with using a 1/4” automotive fitting?

I'm running 1/4" from compressor to motor guard filter to plasma, but they're all within 24" of each other.
I use the coil hose and use it to blow-off the table and area when not cutting.
Put a guage at the back of the plasma and ensure you're getting and maintaining 100+ psi when cutting.

You may find 1/4 to be restrictive. In Mo's case his run of line is very short so it works out but I would suggest stick with 3/8" to ensure you have no flow rate issues. Restricted air flow will cause a lot of headaches. As Mo suggested a gauge on the back of the Hypertherm unit so you can monitor incoming pressure is very helpful.
