I made it back to the house with everything and unloaded it. I’m headed to the East Coast tomorrow for one more table.

The trip was longer than I expected. 6,000 miles total. I was going to leave Reno with the machines I won in the auction, but I ran across a 510 table with the PC and a Hypertherm 65 plasma cutter that was in Commiefornia. so I jogged out to the Left coast to pick up that table while I was out that way. There was no room on the trailer, so we disassembled it and tossed the pieces into the truck bed. I now have everything I need. Well, more than I need, really. But I will probably sell these additional tables after I make the mods to them.

I paid $6.87 / gallon for gasoline in CommieFornia! I wasn't watching the gauge, so when I noticed that I was running low, I was out in The Land of GOT'CHA! I am SO glad to be living in Kentucky!

The other parts arrived from Amazon while I was gone. so when I get back from the East coast, I will do the grate table conversion first. Then I will build one for the 510 table as well. :HaHa

Another successful trip! I got a great 4x4 DHC2 table, with the PC, the computer cabinet, a Hypertherm 1000 with a machine torch and a Snap-n-Cut torch mount, all for only $2,000.00 :HaHa

Now I will slow down ... I promise! I have to get this one home, and then begin to figure out what I will do with all of the tables I currently own. I may modify them with rail lifts, or grate elevators, or pipe cutters etc., and sell them as spare tables, or I may decide to finally go for the ultimate Bed-and Breakfast DesignEdge Weekend Seminar at my home location. I might Frankenstein them into 4x8s, or 5x20s, etc. I actually do have the room to set them all up, but I am not even cutting metal now. My focus is literally on the lasers I acquired over the past couple of years.

I sure could use an assistant! Someone who wants to LEARN something, and not just get paid to stare at his $%^&* PHONE! :-x

That's pretty slick invention Joe, I like it. Look forward to seeing it move the cutting deck.

That is not MY invention. I just thought the mechanism was worthy of a bookmark, for future reference.

My grate deck elevator will work by using four gears that engage gear racks that are mounted to the interior corners of the four PlasmaCam legs. Four motors will turn conjoined driveshafts, so that all four gears rotate at the same speed and in the same direction.

I will jump onto this project soon. However , my mower went ,"POING!" today and stopped moving, so that has now become a priority. I am hoping it is something simple. Thank God I have a forklift, so I can raise it up to get underneath it for repairs, welding, cussing, etc. :HaHa

Hmmm... I have everything else worked out. I have gears that will climb the gear racks, but I need something to keep them in alignment so the gears do not creep out of one side or the other as they climb. Not glide rails ... maybe rollers that ride the sides of the gear racks? Small steel bearings? The PlasmaCam cam follower bearings? Maybe nylon blocks would be sufficient, since the raise and lower speeds would be so slow?

The last part of the puzzle ...

I am thinking of mounting two roller bearings on a flat plate that sets them up to roll on each side of the 1"x1" gear racks.

Do you need bearings, since it's running so slow and infrequently? Fix a washer to each side of each gear and it should contain the sideways motion. The other direction should be contained by the opposite gear rack.
