That looks really good. I've thought about making clocks too. Just for curiousity, what can you get for that in your area?

Re: Old tree clock
I sell these for $75 just because there is a lot of cutting. I sell a ton of other style clocks for $70Redneck wrote:That looks really good. I've thought about making clocks too. Just for curiousity, what can you get for that in your area?

Very nice looking clock! Did you cut the hands? If not, where did you get them? Also, where did you get the action for the clock?

I don't know where he got his clock parts but I found that for large clocks that http://WWW.klockit.com has about the best prices. You can get the high torque motors and the long hands both. Just bought three motors and three sets of long hands for under $40 including the shipping.

P.S. My clocks are around 2ft across.

Re: Old tree clock
Yup, it was Klockit. I am searching for some better movements though because I am getting a lot of bad ones coming back (made in China) I found a USA maker in CA, but they are very expensive. I think I will give them a try though.patc wrote:Very nice looking clock! Did you cut the hands? If not, where did you get them? Also, where did you get the action for the clock?

Re: Old tree clock
I have just received another shipment of movements and hands from these guys http://www.norkro.com/store/high-torque ... urvlv3vvd1
I think that makes about 60 that I have bought from them in the past 5 years and have only had 1 that a customer complained was losing about 10 minutes a day which I just swapped. They have US and Japanese made.
BTW my small clocks start at $125 but the most common one I sell is a 30 inch at $275.

Re: Old tree clock
Most of the clocks I've done are of cars and hot rods etc. a few pics below
I had a situation where I used to get several hundred round pieces of 1/8 sheet ranging from 18 inch to 36 inch diameter which were the cut outs from fan centers from a business I used to own for a bottle of Bourbon so I made a few clock for hot rod mates. Another one would see it and want one and so on.
The files for the clock itself you'll find on here if you search, I gave them to a Carlos a few years back and he posted them here in both roman and numerical.

and one that Carlos drew from the file

Re: Old tree clock
Clocks seem to sell pretty well for most... I really like to do pendulum clocks... I also get the movements from Klockit, but the local Michael's store stocks the exact same movements for about the same price which is handy. This is a sun clock I do that sells pretty well in the local gift shop....
Love the clocks shown here.... some great ideas and nice finishes!
