newbie cuts
been up and running a little over a month as a hobby. Its like an addictive drug. Thanks for all of the information on here. I have no experience with CNC or plasma until I got my table. Thanks again!

Nicely done. That mill scale is going t create problems for you sooner or later. Investigate how to get rid of the scale using muratic acid or even better yet cut cold rolled material which is scale free.

Re: newbie cuts
I would say you hit the road running nice looking stuff.
Plasma table have opened up a whole new world many years ago I used a flame pattern cutter to cut brackets and other odd shaped metal parts. I would drag this thing out of the cave and chase off the Dinosaurs.

Re: newbie cuts
Looks like a good start Kennemer. I do quite a few layered signs etc where I space the front piece about 3mm off and plug weld from behind. Ones like the first one with text I save the section of skeleton they were cut from to make it easier to space and align the letters.
Keep up the good work.

Keep up the good work.
I have cut many parts on a similar setup I had over 30 years ago. We would cut one out of 3mm (1/8") freehand 1/4" smaller and linish it up smooth to use as a pattern or template for the magnetic drive to follow. Then we went high tech and used a magic eye profile cutteracourtjester wrote:I would drag this thing out of the cave and chase off the Dinosaurs.

Re: newbie cuts
Appreciate it everybody. All the pieces in the pics were not attached yet. I did learn that mill scale is the devil and have been using muriatic acid. I have learned a lot in last 2 months and averaging 20 custom signs a week. very fortunate but I want to cut out some stuff for me! The coolest so far has been asked to make trophies for 2 major drag races this year and Designed a race teams logo. I got to see them wear it on Tv last weekend. Man that felt good.
now back to reading and getting educated on stains and dyes
Thanks again for the pointers and info, Mark

To save money get the P/O material (pickled in oil) it's not cold rolled and not quite as expensive. It's all I use unless cutting over 1/4" plate. John
