Consumables Life - 101 - the good, bad, & ugly

Post by Ghost »

Hey Jim Colt.... (or anyone else that would like to post)

Thinking here. What about some pics and brief desertion on tips and nozzles good, bad, & ugly. What is still "good" what is "useless" with pictures of them and maybe what caused the issue. Also what a normal tip/nozzle will look like after it has been just "used" up and needs to be replaced. Kind of a 101 with pics so we might learn more about consumable life.

Thoughts? (this might have already been done, I just didn't see it.)

Thanks,
Jason

First, If you have a Hypertherm Powermax system there is a section in the operators manual that has illustrations and tips to determine the wear on each of the consumable parts in your torch. For more information you can go to the http://www.hypertherm.com site, click on the education tab and you will find a variety of short, online courses you can take, one of which is optimizing consumables. I do have a large, 90 slide presentation with details and pictures of our High Definition class plasma systems and torches with hundreds of pictures and suggestions on how to evaluate the condition of torch consumables....a lot of the same things apply to Powermax air plasma systems but the consumables are different.
