Hi,
I want to try cleaning my cutouts using muratic acid but I am not sure what type of mask to wear against the fumes.
Would a standard type pint spraying mask or is it something special?
Thanks.
Tony

its something special. the fumes are really bad . you probably want to dilute the acid a bit .
home depot and lowes have a mask it says on the package for muratic acid its pretty hefty
I think its like 40-50 bucks
trust me you need it.

When I use muriatic acid, I'm either outside where there's a breeze or when I'm inside I use a fan to keep the fumes away from me. The bad thing about being inside is that the fumes are going to rust any steel they come in contact with.

I have switched to vinegar. It takes a little longer but no worries about fumes or rusting every piece of metal in the garage and house.

Re: What type of mask to use with acid?
You need to use a mask and filters that cover organic vapors. links below are what I use. It covers the acid, other gases, paints, solvents, etc as well as particulates, dust, smoke etc.

Re: What type of mask to use with acid?
Thanks fr all the help.
I plan to use it outside, but want to use a mask to be extra care. I have ordered one from Northern Tool.
I am going to try the vinegar as well, I never knew that.
Thanks to all
Tony
