Metal shears anyone use them?

Post by HammerDownJustin »

Been looking at getting these at HF to build my powder coat oven. Then noticed in the reviews people actually cut 14 gauge with them.Anyone using these to cut there left over plate up into smaller pieces before scraping?

I have a Makita JS 1660 straight shear which works on the same principal of a central cutter which removes a strip and curls it. Works really good on straight cuts, not so good on tight curves. I also have a Makita JS 1600 vibrashear (or electric tin snips as an old bloke who used to work for me calls them), I've had them for about 20 years and would be one of my favorite tools in the shed. Much more versatile than straight shears and I use both on up to 14 gauge fine but at the HF price there you couldn't go wrong with that one, if it wont do the job take it back and get a refund.
