21' Gate

Post by bigcreek »

This one is about 21' wide and shipping back east. There are many little animals and bugs and such that cannot be seen in these pictures. Now off to the powder coaters. Well after I weld the hinges on tomorrow that is.

Awesome piece of work!

I bet you went through a bunch of tips and electrodes by the time that was done.

Thank you for sharing this.

Fantastic work, I really like the thought and detail you put into these gates, even the way you create a touch of authenticity with the ice on the trailer ;) you must get a lot of looks on the way to the powder coaters too.

Very nice! I think we have one powder coater in the local area (about 40 miles from me) with an oven big enough for that!

Super nice job, Josh.
How long did it take to cut the panels? Do the CAD work?
Just curious.

Thanks Dennis. I had all four panels cut in probably four hours or so. As far as drawing it up I probably spent 12 - 20 hours maybe? I didn't really keep track. I quoted him for the full job up front so didn't keep track of the hours but it was around there.

That is a very beautiful gate my brother!!! You did a great job and something to be proud of!!?

What machine are you using to roll the top tube? I have been researching a lot of tubing rollers but I'm more confused now than I was before I started looking at them  I prefer to hear honest ideas and recommendations from the talented brothers on here than anywhere else!!

I have a tube roller that oldsarge made, as in the oldsarge from this site/forum. He did an excellent job and it works awesome. That tube along the top was 2" x 2" x 16 gauge.

That gate is awesome. I would love to build us a gate but have never built gates before. What size material did you use to cut the panels out of? Also what do you use for hinges on something like that?
