Cut out letters

Hi!
Anyone who knows how to do if i want to cut out letters instead of numbers and put on my house.
Instead of "8" i want it to be "eight" but with a type of script that combines all letters in one piece. So i just have a couple of inside contours and just one outside contour.
Would be awesome if someone knew how to do and maybe have a font that i could use.

Here is what you can do with Inkscape. I used capital letters and then drew a bar moved it up to touch the bottom of the letters and used the "union" command under path. I think other programs call it weld. Many fonts will work by using the capitals.
You can also move each letter to connect them by using the Alt and arrow keys to move right/left, up/down to position them how you like.
