I love it!!
Boys and fires right ?figure out a way to put a flashlight in the thing and a pocket knife and it’ll be my new best friend
External Tank temp is 500°
Stack at end 650°
This is super s cool to me!! back yard bbq’s talking piece 🤣
Works better without a taller stack.
I got black smoke when I put a stack on it.
I undersized the discharge tube to fit inside of the stack that I had so that I could play with the length, which I did.
Drew it up and burned rolled and spot welded a 12" long undersized section and added a stop ring for a potential stack,
which was a fail for this thing.
Shuts off when fill cap/aka swing damper is closed.
Zero black smoke, which was a pleasant surprise
The green Freon bottles are the same as this bottle which may be more common now, especially since helium prices have gone through the roof
the bottles also make great quench cans for cooling parts after the tops are cut off and leg stabilizers are added, which is why i scrounged this thing from the street initially for a welding class that I teach.

Edit: I fired it up this evening watching tv out back, with about a quart of diesel in the tank and its been running for a little over an hour. Swing damper at about 50%. I think itll hold over 1/2 gallon up to the fill cap. Still testing fuel consumption .

very nice! will burn better with time. I use anywhere from 50/50 oil/red diesel to 70/30 oil/red diesel mix. I try to filter the oil through the leg of old demin jeans to clean it up a bit. Dont burn enough to know how much it matters.

Good info. Used motor oil?
Thanks!

Edit: after thinking about your post, you mentioned that are straining your oil, so it is obviously used oil.
Curious how that stuff burns. also used cooking oil from fryers and the like..

Used motor oil/diesel is all I have ever burned so cant really compare. I try not to use transmission fluid as it seems to not brun as well. Definitely have soot in the stack when burning oil/diesel, but once going good, little to no smoke.

Had some fish oil from a big fish fry, but decided the smell might be too much for some, so I tossed it. Now thinking I could reduce the soot by using cooking oil instead.

Added a wind diverter .
Used 3 high strength magnets and burned and attached brackets. Burned and Rolled up a 20 gauge wind diverter. The wind was making the flame dance a bit. Did the job. It also reflects the heat out with it in.

The Mrs and I have used it a half a dozen times out back watching tv on our back patio this spring and a few bbqs with friends. Super happy with this little thing.
