Engine Run Stand Project...in progress

I am back on it. Just got back from a vacation. I made a practice sample cut of a mini control panel. Just playing around with some aluminum scrap. Now my kid is playing with it. His engine noises are insane. I used my easyscriber really for the first time. I used the contour method for the easyscriber and then put a M0 code snipped right after the scribe operations. Command CNC then went into Pause Mode (waiting to resume). I then pressed STOP so I can remove the easy scriber and change over to the torch consumables. Then Home Z, Zero Z. Then I run from line number (right after the M0). And it cut out the holes and the plate. I had to make some makeshift hold downs that utilized milling hold downs. I will take pics of those. Pretty simple pieces of scrap angle with 1/2"-13 nuts welded on. Then clamp the angle to the slats.

TJ - that's a nice looking panel. Your engraving/scribing turned out really nice. I have an Easy Scriber, but have yet to use it for anything.

Sure. This is just a test piece checking my design and code snippet, that is why it is so small. The main control panel will follow once I order some gauges and such. Thanks. I used this tool for real the first time. Just awesome.

T.J. Have you tried to add color (paint) to the scribed area the wipe if off before it dries completely. It should leave paint in the groves to add color.

Yes sir. Restoring my Dad's 1979 gmc one ton dually mobile welding truck in his memory. My kid wanted it to be a diesel.

I bought this engine that I saw running in a G30 van. I took the oil pan off, pulled some bearing caps and they were good. Cylinder walls still had nice hash marks on it. Put new oil pump and pickup with new timing chain, seals and gaskets. Took apart all the injectors and cleaned the pintles and sliders. Had a couple of stuck ones. Not anymore.

Pretty cool. I have learned that the metal oragami technique can be very helpful and a huge time saver. If you get a chance please post a pic of your battery box once you've got it folded up and welded. Love this kind of stuff!
