Machine Torch Spark Cover

Post by CNC_rowdy »

Hey all, I saw something the other day that looked similar to a small inverted cone mounted on the bottom of a plasma table machine torch. I guess this would help in keeping cut sparks from flying all over the place. I was just looking in to this. Does anybody have anything like this? Or, would this be more trouble to the machine torch consumables? If something like this works, I would be interested in one down the road.
Thanks,

I have seen these and always assumed they were intended to help prevent tip-ups.

If it has a water table it's to control the splashing.

ok thanks all, I didn't know. I have my home made SS water table and it is 7 seven inches below my grates. So I don't have any problem with the ohmic sensing. I do have rebar frames with clear shower curtains on them I use for flying sparks. I was just thinking if this cone had anything to do with pierce cut sparks etc.., it might be worth a try.
As always, thanks for all the replies.

Here is a thread that started the use of it. I would use it at 65 amps or less, mine now looks like Swiss cheese after forgetting to remove it prior to cutting at 105 amps.. It really does a good job on preventing water from being splashed all over.
