If its made out of thick matl. like 1/4" the hook on top needs to be wider. I made the hook on mine a 1/2" wider, which makes it lay down further. There is 5 pcs to a set, watch your hands it loves to pinch them trying to put it together. Best bet have someone help out.

No it was cut on a 6000 watt laser. Where I work we have 2 lasers 2800 watt & 6000 watt. We bought a 400 amp, dual head Messer True Hole plasma, table is 10 x 20 able to breeze thru 2" steel, 1.5" stainless and alum. On our plasma you barely see the kerf. The slag knocks rite off. For example if we cut 1" steel feed rate is 86" per min, a 1" hole looks like it was drilled out and the edges we keep within a 1-2 deg angle. I'll dig around for pics of the cut samples we've done

Sounds like you really know your stuff. Is your plasma system high-definition or does it used compressed air?
I have to cut 3/8" mild steel at 20ipm, so your equipment is awesome! What's the IPM on the big laser for 1/4" steel?

You'll have more fun putting it together. It took me a couple try's before i got it, but the first time i think i woke half the neighbor hood up at midnight. It doesn't help I live in town nor dropping one pc on the cement pad.....what a ting that was

The plasma is a high def, it uses a couple diff gasses n air. On the laser for 1/4" its around 100 ipm, depends on the grade of steel.

100 IPM on .25" steel. Impressive. If I ever win the lottery, I gotta get one of those! Cheers!

I showed this pit to one of my teaching partners and he said call and get a price on 1/4" stainless I want one of those. The supplier I use can only get 4x8 sheets, it was only $865.00 Teaching partner said he didn't need one after all!!!

Very few people will buy it if made from 1/4" ss. At the time I cut mine a couple of people wanted one. 10 GA ss price was $550 n they said hell no....lol. So I priced it out of 10 GA steel that was $150-200. Hate to see wat mine would of cost.

How well does the 10g steel resist warping? Seems thin :?:

My boss made his out of 10 GA stainless, as far as he told me it hasn't warped yet. I don't think your getting the fire hot like a bond fire or as big as some of those fire rings. The fire stays with in a 20" x 20" area, as it burns the coals n ash work towards the middle n drop out the bottom. One thing that I love about it is I can start a fire right after a rain, my last fire pit came from Lowes it was a bowl with some holes to let water or ash out. After a good rain it was overflowing with water
