Can't get peck pierce to work anymore

Post by Jason@bc »

I can't get the peck pierce to work at all anymore on my system, I have the latest release from Candcnc, it only works with finecut consumables, once I use 45amp or higher consumables it doesn't work at all, it'll pierce almost all the way through every time, no matter if I'm cutting 3/16'' or 3/8'' or 1/2'' or even thicker, any suggestions?

Is it possibly something as simple as a pierce delay time not being long enough?

You say pierce delay not being long enough, wouldn't that make it pierce even longer if the pierce delay time were extended?

Yes, your correct. When you stated it "it'll pierce almost all the way through every time" I thought you WANTED it to pierce through. My mistake :Wow

Peck pierce is all in the POST. CommandCNC only gets involved if you have the Hypertherm Automation option (HYT-Connect RS485) serialport interface to also set the piece current. The latet release (1.2.1) fixes the reported bugs of which peck "marking" is not one of those. Check the support forum last couple of days for the latest POST : 27G3

I have the HYT-Connect RS485 serial port, I can only bring my machine down to 25 amps, it's a 85 amp Hypertherm, but I'll look for the new post, thanks.

That is a low as you can go on the 65 or 85 machines. Only the new 45xl lets you drop to 10A. You can get good peck divots by using a shorter duration and higher peck height .
