A huge thank you to all that share your projects, tips and guidance...i think this turned out pretty good for my first one.
This is the biggest piece I've cut, 25" x 36" cut out of 20ga.

Very nice looks like you got the correct standoff, are you going to leave the metal finish or color it later?

eBay is where I buy mine like this one they have loads more, different led sizes and controllers too, some have battery pack power source. So you know you can cut the lights to length, there is a mark on them as to where you can cut. It is about every 3 leds, and they put copper solder spots there also you can attach new wires there to use the excess cutoff led as another string.

The piece was cut from galv, then DA'd with 120, then clear coated.
The wood backing was stained and clear coated.
The LED's are like these.
I used 1" 1/4-20 standoffs, tacked to the back, drilled and bolted through the backing.
The LED's were cut and laid around then soldered the connecting joints.
