Trace full sized diagram of a jeep profile with Logic Trace

Post by vancematsalla »

using Logic Trace 2022 I am going to trace a jeep profile and cut it out using the CO2 laser from acrylic,
wood and hardboard , but most interesting I am going to cut it out as a piece of jewelry, a jeep brooch
from stainless steel using a 300watt CO2 laser with oxygen
I need more testing using the 300watt laser with oxygen, have to experiment with speed
but its cuts stainless very smooth compared to steel

Nice video Stan! What kind of laser machine is that you are using? I notice the new version of Logic Trace has a much more colorful screen set than the older version I am using. Has John added any noteworthy new features to the new version, or is it pretty much the older version with a new look?
Thanks,
David

That's pretty slick Stan! Would you be willing to share the dxf file you created with your Logic Trace board?

DieselFumes - you could use this screen shot from Stan's video to create the dxf for the jeep. I don't think Stan would mind at all.

The design was good, but it was pointed out to me on another site that the jeep has 7 slots on the front not 3
my mistake and i have had 2 wranglers and now a gladiator --so i should have known better but it was an artist conception of the
jeep front or profile

I am using a 300watt non metal metal laser a 51x39 working surface x,y,z, axis and the cutting head also can travel about 8inches (so 4 axis)
it cuts metal aluminum and stainless (thin up to 3mm)
I noted it cuts stainless smooth and uses O2 for the metal cutting and can go through it
The 300watts is very powerful and the software also has a follow me which the cutting head will follow the metal shape(say round)
The laser also has a indexer for cutting round or engraving (they seem to frown at engraving )( i also have cut 1/8 glass with some good results)
Its all new and i am learning , but i like the idea of the large work surface and working metal non metal

Thanks for the information on your new laser table Stan. What is the make and model of your new table so I can go to the manufacturer's website to check them out?
