Now I just need to make the scenic panels for the center opening between hand rail and platform.

Very nice. I put a similar grate in the cement stoop to the back entrance to our house 30 years ago. It works out really well.

That is a really good idea.
I don't think that I have ever seen tread plate in a landing before without the whole thing being made with it, like catwalks and such.
If the steps get too slippery you could always adhere some strips of that grip tape to it to avoid slips, especially when they get wet or icy.
They are usually more of a slip hazard when descending than the other way, and when in a rush to get somewhere. Tailbone cruncher.. Been there did that! looks good!
