Family Crest

Post by caretech »

I asked for some advice re: pricing in another post (viewtopic.php?f=88&t=35714). Here's the finished product. Pictures supplied by the customer. It would be nice if the night pic had just a little less blur from slow shutter / camera shake, but it gives the idea.

3/16 plate for self-standing rigidity. Sign stands nearly 60" high.

Thanks for the positivity. I thought a view of the back side might also be interesting for some. This is how it's free-standing, without any visible framework from the front. View from the shop after welding and before painting.

Customer specified the font; I'd not heard of it before. Microgramma D Bold Extended for the all-caps last name across the bottom. The bold / extended font didn't fit well for the Latin phrase around the outer circle, so I used a lighter variant from the same page linked below.

https://fontsgeek.com/fonts/microgramma

Funny thing is that once I designed this and started looking at it, I realized that the lettering FORD looks awfully much like the decals on the hoods of older Ford tractors. I recently designed some files for custom decals for an adult-sized custom pedal tractor built by my dad; spent time painstakingly hand-tracing in Inkscape. Could have saved myself an hour if I'd have known of Microgramma.
