Dave that turned out, well no words I can say will serve it justice. You are an awesome craftman, congrats on your challenging project. And you should charge more than you can get, you will get it.

Re: Transfer House
Thank you. I hope you can create things like this also. A friend of mine in Nashville asked me the same question. I told him it's irrellevant because now I can call it up with one click of the mouse and make another one. I didn't keep track of time because I loved designing and making it.JJsCustoms wrote:Thats amazing work!
How long did it take you, from design to finished product, to create this?
I hope i can one day create peices of art like this

Re: Transfer House
No wonder it took me so long to make this thing! I'll assemble it tomorrow and post a pic, turned out nice after powder coating. The one you see on my forklift table is my first order. Cut it out of 16 gage 304 UB finish stainlees steel and hand polished.

98 screws later. Not quite as bad as the Eiffel tower which took 420 screws. Used a hammertone powder coating on part of it to make it look like stone.Cut it out of 12 gage and 14 gage cold rolled steel. The square tube is 6061T .250" wall aluminum and all the screws are stainless steel button heads.

Re: Transfer House
Thanks, I believe these will be the only (2) I'll make. Keeping the powder coated one and selling the stainless steel one. I have between 35 and 40 hours in each.muzza wrote:Looks great Dave as does your ever changing wall in the background, nice Harley .

Re: Transfer House
When I made the first one I used space on cold rolled sheets I had cut on before and didn't pay attention to how much steel it took to make it. This one is cut from (2) 4' x 4' pieces of 16 gage stainless steel and and as you can see there was not a lot of room for errors.

Re: Transfer House
Think about contacting the city counsel of the cities involved in the original transfer house. Price them 10 times what you think they are worth. Really. Think of it as art not a metalworking project. They are art pieces and you should charge accordingly. Maybe they will want to buy enough to line the square with these with lights in them for the strollers.

Re: Transfer House
That was my original plan but the local government has it's own loyalty when spending tax $. Here's a picture of one they purchased to be placed in a local park.Black Forest wrote:Think about contacting the city counsel of the cities involved in the original transfer house.
