Well now you get to test out your 3-D drawing skills, Plasma and Laser got you started with 2-D now you step up another level. To get you started with the printer you may go on Thingiverse and download some trinkets or useful things. The search function works great on that site, I have many downloads in many folder (categories) where I store many projects. And have posted a few myself as a payback. You are going to want to clone yourself to have enough time for all the new projects, the trick is finishing some. Sorry the devil made me say that. :HaHa :HaHa

I have ordered a mobile base for this printer. It is on the way. I am thinking that I will need to move it around, along with the other larger machines which are all on wheels in my shops.

The only thing left for me (this year) is to pick up this handheld scanner to complete the set. I am looking at options now.

I know this printer is 'YUGE! But one of the first things I want to design and print is a better thumb pick for the banjo. The picks they make wrap around the thumb and pinch the nail to hold in place. The open end of the pick can catch another string, at least for amateur pickers like me :Sad

I want to design a pick that will let me be a bit sloppy with my finger picking, without the danger of accidentally catching the string above the one I want to pluck.

Gotta start small, I guess.

Beware, 3d printers have a tendency to multiply rather quickly.
I went from I'll maybe buy one to 6 printers in 3 months :HaHa
Did sell a few and back to 2 now and have been designing and perfecting a coreXY printer with a decent build volume with the money I got for them.

I wanted a max footprint of 50x50 and 60cm high and all contained.
Build volume can be a bit bigger but settled on 300x300x300mm for now because of bed heater size.
Its fully enclosed and a stand alone environment temperature control to stop warping with ABS (the main material I print)
Base frame built out of 2020 extensions with plexiglas sides and doors, 12mm hiwin rails for the motion.
Done alot of prototyping to get things running smoothly and waiting on a friend to re-make a bunch of parts out of titanium that are now aluminum or printed.
The reason for titanium? Weight loss because it shakes like mad at full speed use to the acceleration and.
It's one of those projects you put alot of time into and it's never finished.

At $12,000.00 per, I believe I will be happy with ONE 3D printer for the foreseeable future! Although I am already eyeing another laser...

Corexy is fast, accurate and easily scalable.
For FDM printing there is no better system in my opinion.
Downside is that electronics is a bit more expensive because you need 32bit to process it fast enough.

So I have a 3d printer addiction and you are addicted to lasers gotcha :HaHa
But at 12k it's a bit steep to hoard them but have you ever seen a print farm?
Its a thing of beauty but I highly doubt it's worth the money anymore these days.

I gave it some thought, did some research and I cant see how a business can make any money as a service.
Guess if you are printing a specific part and have a patent on it that would make a difference.

I am waiting for the "Mr. Replicator" home appliance. All we would need to do, is to find some stunningly beautiful young woman who loves to cook, clean, and satisfy her man, and toss her into the replicator! We'd make BILLIONS!

Starting with a smaller and more affordable 3D printer can be a wise decision if you are new to 3D printing. This will allow you to learn the basics and gain experience before investing in a larger and more expensive unit e.g. https://43dprint.org/best-3d-printers-under-2000/ the first one Dremel. Additionally, smaller 3D printers are often more user-friendly and require less maintenance than larger ones. They can still produce high-quality prints, and you can always upgrade to a larger printer later.
On the other hand, if you are already experienced with 3D printing and have a clear vision of the projects you want to undertake, a larger and more advanced printer may be a better choice. It will allow you to print larger objects and achieve more complex geometries. However, keep in mind that larger printers require more space, more power, and more maintenance.
