Post by Fleming Metal Fab »

I picked this up today at my neighbors garage sale for $20. It just needs a seal in the water trap (leaks a lil). Ive been fighting condensation so hopefully this will fix it. My problem is I cant find any info on it. Ive googled with no luck. Anyone know anything about it. Only posting cause there is alot of knowledge on this page. Thanks in Advance

$20?! you suck. lol. sorry I'm no help on the model, but if you spend $100 to fix it... you still got a great deal. I'm guessing it will need to be recharged with R-22, which is relatively cheap.

Does it actually run or are you just going on what the previous owner told you about the leak?

So.. update. General Pneumatics is owned by the Flair Corp. but I see no evidence of a digital presence after 2002, so it's possible the brand and/or company was absorbed or is out of business.

Yes Sir it runs. He is a trustworthy guy also. He bought it for painting and just never got into like he thought he would. He was just doing some cleaning. Missed some other great deals but this was kinda hid. Flair co. I will check it out. Would love to have some literature on it. I was thinking about tearing into it today. Hopefully just make my own seal and charge it. Thanks for the info buddy

can't help with info on the brand

we have a speedaire that is 20+ years old, no info or literature on it, but it works well
as long as the gauge reads in the green, it's working
blow out any dirt or dust on the coils, as they collect dust the gauge will go into the red
the auto drain portion on ours never worked right, but it was npt threaded
we screwed a hose and valve on it and drain it daily into a 5 gallon jug

What may screw you up if you live in the US is the R22. It is now banned. Any future maintenance will involve modifications to the equipment. If it is working ok you are probably good to go.

R22 is available in the US, it's R12 that has been banned.

I think Speedaire is a Grainger brand you may contact them if you need parts.

Thanks guys! I will go check it out now. Wonder what its worth? It runs runs just needs the seal on the water trap. Thinking about posting it up on the local CL for sale. I know I will be kicking myself in the butt later but just always need a $ for bills, lol.

If the only thing that is wrong with it is the water trap, you are in luck. Whether the unit is discontinued or not, the trap will most likely still be a standard item. You could buy a whole new trap/drain and still be way ahead of the game!........RK

Don't worry about the R-22. It's still available and if not there are drop in replacements available . Just be worried about the repair cost if it delelops a refrigerant leak.
