ventilation system fan

Post by hardsteel »

hi guys, as i am building a ventilation system for my plasmacam , i tried to make a ventilation fan by the machine itself . the component of the system ....(mega cooker as a duct(to save the 20% of the looses of power ), 0.5 hp pump motor , steel fan as shown below . after balance the fan i found that there is a vibration when the speed over 1400 r.p.m , so it is better to make it under 1400 r.p.m for safety .
warning :do not install a motor with speed up 2800 r.p.m

Interesting, never saw anyone build their own fan before. I work in HVAC for a living and I can tell you that those things need to be perfectly balanced or you will get vibration. I guess I would just keep it under 1400 rpm as long as it ventilates ok.

Nice work and I admire your talent to make rather than buy, but I have to ask, wouldn't it have been cheaper just to buy the thing? I know there is a certain amount of pride in something you do yourself and I applaud you on that.
