New from North Dakota

Post by RP14 »

Looking for as much info as I can find to build a CNC Plasma/Router table. Like to keep it compact to a 4x4 or 5x5. Or whatever is best for cutting/routing metal or wood signs/art.
Would like to find good programs for drawing, machine input info, and simple CNC build from scratch.
Not sure where to start.

Welcome aboard!
You will find much information about some of the diy builds here:

Inkscape and Fusion 360 are both free programs popular with many and pretty easy to use. There are many great tutorials on both.
Solid Edge is also free and many use it for drawing up parts more mechanical in nature.

Let us know if you have specific questions and we will try to help you.

Welcome aboard you are at a great time and place to start, Many DIY types here. The collective knowledge is vast and are of different methods willing to share. Is this a hobby advancement or side business, many of those here too. I have built 9 table and will say a 4X4 is a comfortable size table for mounting material to work on, the cost between with either size is not great so choice is yours to make. For routing I use EstlCam about $55. great for plaques and wall art. F-engrave works very well to and is free, both will do 3-D type routing. And don't forget there are other optional attachments you can add to your table later, diamond scribe, drag knife, pen plotter, and laser for etching or cutting materials.
