CANDCNC MP 3700 + DTHC5

Post by mcmental »

hi there i keep hearing people mention using linux for cnc so did a few searches and saw the above items, just wondering if this would be suitable to run on my diy table with nema 23 motors and Dm556 drivers, at the moment i only have a chinese hf plasma but that will be getting upgraded after the table is complete.

thanks for any advice

There is no problem controlling your motion hardware with Linuxcnc.
Th HF start machine can be challenging if it does not have a raw or divided arc voltage signal as the HF start can be >25k volts so its easy to fry things.! People do do it by hacking into the plasma cutter internals and pick up the arc voltage before the HF start module. You can also create an arcOK signal by using a reed relay and winding a few turns of the cable around it.
