I want to use crossfire pro to cut foam for Halloween

Post by Willdamnit »

Ok here's my story we do Halloween big around my house. The wife and I got married on Oct 31, I like to build stuff and and make cool stuff for Halloween for her to show off so
When I bought the table a couple of years ago I was busy trying to make brackets some sign just the normal cool stuff you find in places this forum.Great resources. I posted a question in the langmuir forum last year about wanting to use the table as my router( it's a Dremel with a sheetrock cutter in it) I got some info but didn't fix the problem I was having I could get the router to cut my design but I can keep it from leaving marks between my too paths or go to cut the perimeter cut I use fusion and inkscape for the most part on normal but the router functions I'm at a lose I also want to through it in there I use sheetcam for all of the cam .
The things I want to try to make is tombstones with really cool designs no would I know the table can't handle it any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks William

In Sheetcam there is a router function for generating a G-code to rout things. I have done many things with switching my table from Plasma to Router, I have a Plate mounted on the Z axis assembly so I can do that easily/quickly. In creating a G-code you use the same on line/inside/outside offsets. I you tool list you must have tools setup for router routines (bit size and shapes) how fast to cut, ect. Here is an MDF project for a wall hanger. And a video of a Plaque I did. You done with the hard part mounting the dremel. :Yay

Good show You may look into a trim router (smaller type) if you want to do denser material. Is that a flexible shaft type tool holder??

Yes it's the flex shaft and works great the crossfire can't handle a real router it's ball screws and and nema 23 steppers foam works let's me make stuff for my wife.

the DIY part of me wants to suggest you look at having 2 clamp type attachment points for the tool holder to the torch holder. I think the flexible shaft movement may make the bit wonder some. IMHO
A trim router is much lighter then a standard router.
