New code 21 problem

Post by OTHill »

Hi. Started having strange code 21 problems Cutting 14 ga.at book specs. with fine cut tips. cut fine for a little while and than code 21! Back up to the last M0 5 and restart and same thing happens. Yes I have a pressure gage just at my HT 65 and pressure does not go below 100 psi ever. This can happen at any time in the cycle of air compressor. Just for kicks I changed to 45A tip and cut for a while no problem don't know why that would be. This thing drives me nuts some days. I'm starting to think I shouldn't ever go out there on Mondays or Tuesdays! I

Give this a read. I believe this addresses your finecut issue.

Thanks Ironken. looks like I got going again. Mostly changing over to shielded finecut and raising cut height.Keepin my fingers crossed. 90% of my work is 14 ga. So I really do need finecut. Oh and also I slowed down my cutting speed from 220 ipm to 200.

You are very welcome! Glad you're up and running again. Finecuts are finicky but they do such a nice job once sorted.

What did you increase your height to with the fine cut consumables, other that the Hypertherm book values. Thanks.

I don't know if you're having the same problem as OTHill but, if it is a penatration issue....Hypertherm is aware and suggest *if I recall correctly* raising the cut height to .070-.075 and increasing the THC voltage 5v. This has helped me when the consumables are new to prevent non penatration and blowback on 11g. After there is some time on the consumables (electrode) you can go back to book specs. Personally, I have a canned nest that I run on production parts on 11g and simply increase the cut height to .070 from .060 and 82v from 78v and leave it there with old or new consumables so I don't need to mess with the program.
