Powermax 65 with 0-12 code and loud air exhaust from machine

Post by Ironken »

Hey guys, sometimes the first cut of the day, my 65 will show a 0-12 fault with a loud continous air exhaust coming from inside the machine. Usually a reset and it runs fine. Air quality and pressure are good at the machine. Any ideas?

Yikes, thats a bummer. I have no solution to offer you I am sorry but I would contact Hypertherm before it leaves you hanging.

Thank you gentlemen. Hypertherm tech support confirmed my fears.....The solenoid valve is bad. Really not a big deal and they were very willing to get the replacement to me but, they have to go thru an authorized distributor. My local distributor done pissed me off....so bad that I had some nasty words with their chief sales asshole and I may have told him to go fxxx himself. Looks like Im gonna eat this one.....only about $250 for the part.

I'm guessing that solenoid most likely isn't made by Hypertherm. If you can find a part number on it, you might be able to locate one for a better price somewhere else. Possibly even somewhere like eBay or Amazon.

If you post the info, I can help you look around for one.

Others that have had solenoid issues have disassembled and cleaned the solenoid successfully. Usually when it fails it is because of particulates or oil / water in the air line, this makes the solenoid stick open in most cases. Jim Colt

Thank you Jim. I split this machine with my buddy, he went to an 85 and I bought him out of this 65. What you say is exactly what happened. When I got it, the coalescing filter in the machine had oily schmoo in the bowl. I thoroughly cleaned everything and replaced the filter. I didn't think it made it to the solenoid valve but, it must have. Really not Hypertherm's problem at all and I won't pursue warranty on this. My fault so I eat this one. No biggie. I will just order a new one.

I will warn him that his 85 will have the same issue if he continues to run his worn out compressor.
