Rattle Can Paint Shaker

Post by goldwinger »

Has anyone seen or know of a DIY shaker that can shake several (up to 6) rattle cans at the same time ?
I have tried several DIY attempts at making something but not muck luck, open to any thoughts you might have

Thanks

You could start with Harbor Freight's 1 gallon paint shaker:

https://www.harborfreight.com/pneumatic ... 94605.html

You can shake up to three rattle cans as is. I would look into adding a jig to hold six cans, if needed.

I have never tried putting a rattle can in a paint shaker. It is my understanding the can can't stand the vigorous shaking action and they rupture. NOT OSHA RECOMMENDED. Maybe if the motion were slowed considerably it would be safe. Myself, I wouldn't even attempt it.

I think since the Harbor Freight one runs on air you can easily slow it down to a reasonable shaking motion.

I bought the HF shaker years ago just for rattle cans and I've never had a problem. Common sense wins over OSHA in this case.

Here's a tool for one.
Anyone else on here use this?
I bought one a year ago, couldn't find it so bought another. First one broke at the tang where it enters the sawzall after about 20 cans. Second one broke same place after only 4 cans. Contacted the owner and he claims no one else has this problem.
Always just me!!!!

I know this isn't a shaker, but it has been working for me for several years... I have an old "rock tumbler" designed for 2 drums and it is just the perfect length for a can of spray paint or quart cans of paint. I start to tumble paint as I am prepping for paint... give each cam 5-10 minutes initially if I need multiple cans. End with the can I start spraying with and put another one on a second time. By the time I use up one can the next is ready. Definitely noticed fewer plugged nozzles versus just hand shaking.
