Re: steel
I was born and raised in Tampa. Go Plant Panthers.
I started with hot rolled and used an acid bath. Quickly getting the acid off and handling the acid became mot even close to worth the effort/ time. I moved on to P&O and never looked back. Worth every penny. P&O was a little less expensive than cold rolled and did everything I needed. I used 14 ga almost exclusively for my artwork. The heft felt like quality and stayed in shape better than the 16 ga and 18 I played with.
I use past tense because I got out of the business last year.

Re: steel
I use mostly HR but I end up painting most of my stuff. I do like having some CR around for quick and easy chemical finishes though.
I think I'm the oldest 10 year old boy on the forum...
