Best Font for Plasma

Post by SSSMetalWorks »

Good Morning All,

I have a problem that I'm trying to sort out. What would be the best font to use when listing ten names on a 6x4 plate? This is a memorial piece so looking for something other than stencil font. My kerf is 0.053. Thanks in advance.

many fonts can be used you just need to add bridges to the ones that have parts that will fall out, ten names on a 6X4 plate may be pushing it.
Have you thought about etching the names on the plaque then you make many more fonts usable.

Hard to say what the "Best" font for plasma is as they will all need editing to some extent in order to be used. When I purchased my TM cad more than a decade ago I jumped on the font upgrade. Paid a good bit for it but have 2600+ fonts I can work. Type out in any arc/array or along a path, with on screen kerning which allows me to adjust spacing on the fly however it's software specific. Not sure about your software, if there's something similar but I'd highly recommend it. Otherwise as Ironken advises there are more than a few sites featuring fonts. I have an issue here though, not sure if it's just me but I can't seem to get my ProText enabled CADlink software to recognize these downloadable fonts in any usable manner. Also, you didn't specify feet or inches on the 4x6 plate. Hope it's feet if you're going plasma as AC states will certainly be pushing it. :-D

For plasma, probably stencil fonts out of the box:
https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/list ... on/stencil

less chance of dropouts

for engraving, single line fonts:

all depends upon what you want to do..... + how much gcode time you want to spend machining / cutting the fonts out.
