you can use 16ga. you just have to play with your ipm and heat/voltage/cutting height . Hope that helps a bit , im sure someone will shimmy in some more intel .

I use a Powermax45 at 100IPM and 33 amps for 16ga. Run test patterns on some scrap to get it dialed in.

I use a Powermax 85 with finecut tips running 45amps at 250-300 ipm. How fast you can go depends on your machine and how well it handles corners etc, then its just a matter of getting the amps and voltage set for that speed. (basically, there are other variables too, I get pretty much slag free cuts with my settings)

16ga is the thickest I cut with finecut tips.

PM 65 / 45Amps / fines / 120 ipm on 16 ga. with water table.

Thor,

The fine cuts will do 11 ga with no probs.

When I am cutting 16 ga or thinner I make sure the water table is full, I make sure I don't cut much in one area, make sure to split up the design and I use 30 amp tips @27 amps.
I set the cut speed to 180 ipm and use a 90 degree lead in.

Very little dross, mainly on the corners that can be squeezed off with my fingers.
Almost no warping at all.
This was last week, fine detail,

Good luck man.

I have done up to 12ga with the fine cut tips but typically I am doing production parts and am more concerned with speed (secondary is quality, then tip life). So I usually start going to 65 amp tips at 50 to 65 amps depending on thickness. Doing artwork with lots of detail I may occasionally use finecuts up to 12ga.
