New to making parts. Can someone make this into a dxf for me?

Re: Trailer bracket
To get radius without radius gauges, you can fiddle with a compass until it matches the radius you have and measure or you can match something with a known diameter to the fillets you have and divide that diameter by 2.
In any case, you can post what CAD program you are using and I'm sure somebody would be more willing to help direct you and get you going drawing parts.
Otherwise for a first post ever, you are just hitting the easy button.

Re: Trailer bracket
to measure the radius
just draw 2 lines at 90 degrees to each other
place the metal part so the two edges align with the 90 degree lines and trace the radius on the paper.
measure the distance from the intersection of the two 90 degree lines to where the arc starts and you have your radius

Re: Trailer bracket
I hate to be "That guy"... but if you have a CNC plasma table, and I assume you do since you're on this forum and started this thread...
You really need to be able to draw these parts up yourself.
That is an extremely easy part to draw up and would be the perfect drawing to learn how to use your software. I'd suggest you go to YouTube, search for something like "Getting started with _______" and learn how to make a square with your software. Then search for how to make radius corners in _______, then learn how to make holes... aaaaaaaaaaaaand done.
Now if you still can't figure it out, please post up questions on how to use your software. I know how it is sometimes hard when you find a video you think will help, but it's the old version, or the new one, or there's one thing that was so simple they forgot to say it, and all you need is a simple basic question answered but you can't really get a quick response from the YT creator. That's where this place comes into play. We can answer that question... like in seconds sometimes!
I don't wanna be a dick, and I'm sure you know that old saying about giving a man a fish, so I won't say it again, but that drawing can't really get much more simple and would be the perfect one to start learning your software on. Good luck and remember, we're here to help!

I've always found it funny the way the word "help" is applied to these requests. This is so common on this forum. To be rather blunt, I don't know why these types of people don't just say:
"Look, I'm just a beginner, but I really can't be arsed to learn even the most basic skills in drawing, so I'm not interested in asking how. I mean, why should I even ask how this is done when there'll always be some mug that will just do it for me. So could someone here be that mug and just do it, so I can go and do something else that doesn't require any effort" Oh yeah, maybe I can go and have a beer while someone does the hard work for me."
But I know this is going to continue because these types of people have nearly always been entertained here.

Guys, to play devils advocate, did it not take longer to type out your posts than help the guy out?
I admit that I did not know / see it was his first post.... or I may have taken a different tact
Think you're fighting a loosing battle as was proved to me here in this thread I took the same tact that you've done
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=28635#p173045
maybe give him some links to free cad / vector software may be a starting point on this long road of learning + self help?
freecad https://www.freecadweb.org/
librecad https://librecad.org/
inkscape https://inkscape.org/
sheetcam (+ draw plugin)

will all provide the same output, some easier than others....

Hi Rob,robertspark wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 7:04 am Guys, to play devils advocate, did it not take longer to type out your posts than help the guy out?
how much time it took to speak my mind about something I feel has caused this forum to degenerate, is of little concern to me. I'd rather spend multiple times longer to say it than to "help" the guy out. Of course I don't think I would have been helping him at all, instead I think I'd be promoting the lazy attitude that seems apparent.
It's completely yours and everybody elses choice if they want to "help" this type of person. You and others feel you are helping, while myself and some others feel it's promoting this place as somewhere lazy people come to get others to do their work for them.
Many times in my life a little harshness has done me the world of good.

I am by no means lazy I was just trying to get the part done quickly and do not know how to do it. Thanks for your harshness. I will figure it out.

Re: Trailer bracket
I'm not against being lazy.... oh no...
Heck, I'm sitting in my underwear at my computer with a bag of Doritos right now, and I'm not gonna move a muscle, other than to eat the whole damn bag before lunch!
I'm just trying to help the newbs out.
By the way Puckett, I'm not saying you're lazy. You're new and come to this place and see that lots of people are asking for file conversions... and they get that help. People here are nice like that. Some people here love to help others out, and them doing conversions and drawings for other people not only helps out the newbies, but it helps themselves learn their software even better. Some people love to help others. I do too. I like to help them by helping them to learn how to do it themselves.
I also like Doritos.
I'm not familiar with PlasmaCam so I can't help you with what program to get, but I hope others will let you know what they like.
I'd type more, but my keyboard letters are turning orange which means it's time to lick them clean, so I'm gonna be busy for a while...

Ah man, some of these guys may come off as harsh but it's all sound advice. That is an easy design to learn on and all the help you need is here to help you complete it when you get stumped. Honestly don't be offended or take it the wrong way, these are the same guys who would be more than willing to take time out of their day to assist you in drawing that on your own when you have trouble

That's great! And when you get hung up on the CAD program that you choose to use.....somebody will be here to help you along.
I have only been here for a year or so but, you gotta understand....the guys (including myself) that have done the work themselves and figured it out by scrapping steel get pissypants when a new guy posts a one liner looking for somebody to do the job for them. I had work piled up for my machine when it arrived and I had a very vague idea how to run it. So instead of watching Pornhub, I watched the Yootoob vidyas nightly for days unitl I got going because I needed parts and fast.
You can get all pissy and exit or you can hang around for a bit and become part of the crew here. Pretty valuable info here....just sayin'.
